In which: Henry I’s appearance door
This is the appearance door high in the keep of Corfe Castle. It hasn’t been visible to the public since 1646 when the castle was largely destroyed in the Civil War.
It was three storeys up in the castle and where Henry I could come out to wave to his people, like the royals on the balcony at Buckingham Palace.
I do hope my peasant forebears stuck their fingers up at the toffs.
