In defence
Evening all,
Martello Towers, sometimes known simply as Martellos, are small defensive forts that were built across the British Empire (see map) during the 19th century, from the time of the French Revolutionary Wars onwards. Most were coastal forts.
This is our one at Leith, incorporated into the new renewables hub.
One of our wooden fenders in the locks came loose from it's chains and floated down the lock and got stuck under the ship I was letting through the locks system.
Could have caused untold damage but I got the tug from the dredger to come across to save the day and recover the fender.
We want these replaced/repaired/removed but it's getting them to make a decision.... terrible.
Have a great evening
