An ordinary life....

Better than Gin…

Miraculously with the help of a nurse doing a bit of a tablecloth trick with the sheet, I was able to turn on my right side as trying to sleep on my back wasn’t comfortable.

Up by 8 am, I was just eating my cornflakes when my consultant Dr N arrived. She was very happy to see me up and looking well. We had a long and interesting chat and she showed me a scan of my insides with the fibroid looming large. Seeing that graphic and how the fibroid affected my surrounding organs, and realising it weighed the equivalent of four 1lb bags of sugar, made it absolutely clear that surgery was the right thing to do. She was delighted to hear that I already feel some benefits and she was happy for me to go home today.

D arrived in just before 1pm and got my bag packed. Nurse went over all my medication. As well as paracetamol and liquid morphine, there’s the very stingy jab of blood thinners I have to give myself for a once a day for a week, laxatives, an anti nausea tablet, and three different antibiotics! Due to having had sepsis three times, they’re taking no chances! I will be so glad when they’ve stopped.

D had to make me up a spreadsheet to clearly list when each item has to be to be taken. Some with food, some on an empty stomach, some first thing, some last thing. Very confusing!

We finally left the hospital at 4pm and home by 5pm. I was dreading getting into and out of the car but managed without any problem, to mine and David’s surprise!

Got huge smiles from Alan on my return and a very waggy tail from Lola :-)) And some lovely get well cards waiting for me :-)

After dinner decided I had enough energy left to try getting showered. Success with a bit of help from D fetching and carrying for me. Felt SO good to get my hair washed and clean pjs on.

Phoned John to let him know I’m home. He’s been phoning D every night at 9pm to see how I am. He wasn’t expecting to hear my voice, especially telling him I’m home, so he was over the moon.

Then some tea and toast and now looking forward to getting into my own bed.

It’s the simple things :-))
