New Chums Gully . . .

……………………………….. walk, high above the Arrow Gorge.
This walk links the Arrow Gorge with Tobins Track, and is a narrow winding track with some fairly high rocky step-ups & downs. You can see the usual Arrow River track in the lower right of the image I’ve blipped. I didn’t take walking poles which would have been helpful.

There were amazing views over the Whakatipu Basin when we crested the hill up from New Chums gully itself.
There was a lot of gold mining in this area and I’m guessing that this was an area that was mined by a ‘new chum’.

It was quite a long walk about 9.5kms, with some steep gradients, which Missy managed easily. It was a tad more challenging for me. I think I’ll be taking it easy tomorrow!
