Lay-By

It’s been at least twenty-four hours since I’ve hung around in Milton Keynes waiting for one of the Little Misses so I decided it was high time to get back and do it again.
This time for a meeting about Miss L’s silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition next month. It was for the kids only so I thought I’d just wait in the car park and listen to my audiobook.
The tiny car park was rammed so I drove off to look for somewhere to wait.
I found a lay-by under the A5 and next to the Grand Union Canal and pulled in there. It was a bit creepy with an ancient camper van parked there too. Although they were probably equally uncomfortable with my arrival!
It was proper dark, the eerie canal water inches from my wheels, the campervan like something out of The Shining. I didn’t love it!!!!
I was just starting to relax when another car pulled in and parked right beside me.
This was a massive lay-by!!!!
I locked my doors and turned the engine on so my lights came on. Luckily the car moved away and parked at the far end.
So there we all were in this creepy lay-by.
Probably all just waiting for kids!!!
I was home just in time for the live Eastenders. I can’t believe it’s been on for forty years. I actually remember watching the first episode!
