More Nostalgia
More rain and more admin too, so I've been taking time out to sort through more old photos for camera club next week.
I might include these two.
The polaroid is me back in the days when I was rising up the management ranks. Note the wall to wall carpet (lesser managers only got a square in the middle of their office), the in and out trays, two Filofaxes, and the Acorn A5000 computer which I talked my boss into letting me buy. I think at the time we only had two other computers in the company, both in the library. We had three librarians too!
The car image was taken for the Express & Star newspaper when mrsfb won a car. We'd been to a furniture shop, Coles Of Bilston, to order a sofa bed. On the way out mrsfb entered a slogan competition - For comfort and style they're best by a mile - and she won! The photo shows Mrs Cole handing over some symbolic keys to mrsfb. Note I had a great taste in ties back then. Mrsfb still has that scarf. Some years later we were getting a new car and a pushy Renault salesman was trying to get us to consider their finance deal. So how do you normally finance your cars he asked. Well I usually win them in competitions was mrsfb's curt reply.
In other news grandson Rory has scarlet fever :-(
