Life in Sunny Dubai

Abrahamic Family House

We were out of the house before 9 AM as planned, to collect our friend Miriam. There was a little mix-up with the pick-up point! I should have asked rather than assumed. Doh.

We reached the Abrahamic Family House on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi. It's the first time for us, so the fact that we got there in time for our 11:20 guided tour was a bit of a feat! I took over one hundred photographs, so picking two wasn't easy.

The project was born out of talks in 2019 - the Year of Tolerance in the UAE. The primary function of the church, mosque and synagogue is to be a place of worship. All three buildings are 30x30x30 metres and are built using the same materials - concrete, steel, glass and wood. All three hold approximately 300 worshippers. I've never been in a synagogue before, so my extra shows the inside. We enjoyed a coffee in their cafe and browsed the gift shop, which had some very unique items.

Lunch was at the nearby Mamsha Resort. Miriam wanted to dine facing the sea, and the place fit the bill. It was fantastic, and the weather was perfect. Miriam stayed on with a friend, and G & I drove up, hitting rush-hour traffic to cruise into a quiet evening.
