Banana in Marmallapuram (backblip)
In a hotel where the light switches were controlled only by an iPad, I was up and down like a yo-yo from 3 am. Thr digestive discomfort turned to nausea. I tried the technique of focusing on the feeling and imagining its shape, colour and location. It turned out I had a huge dark demon in my stomach!
When the vomiting started, I realised I could just leave the bathroom light on! All this continued for many hours, with any strenuous activity such as zipping up my case bringing on a further bout. To my shame and horror , I was even sick on the bus (they gave me a bin) and though we passed many interesting sights such as salt flats where salt was being harvested, and a mango plantation, I took no photos.
When we got to our hotel, I begged for a room to be made available as soon as possible, and just slept. I didn’t go to the pool, the sea or to the rock caves by coach. However, by evening I had recovered sufficiently to join the others at supper at the resort. Everyone was very kind to me and concerned. I had some rice and a banana (they are smaller in India) and went to bed after a bit more repacking.
Fortunately there was no repeat of the previous night’s events.
