Farewell Mike

A very old friend of mine, a very talented singer and writer Mike Scott-Harding passed away unexpectedly on January 2 this year, today was his funeral and wake. Top left is the last time we saw each other at one of my gigs last year, top right is me with Gerrard his partner of 20 years.
There were lots of incredible performers there who sang some inspiring and beautiful and uplifting music, I did an acappella rendition of Lean On Me and the whole room joined in. I met a singer called Dorothy that I haven’t seen since the 90s who drove me from the Funeral to the wake, on the way I realised we were very near where I grew up in Bickley and she kindly drove past my old house where I lived from the age of 2 to 14.
There was an incredible Jamaican buffet of chicken and fish and chickpea curry and rice and peas followed by pineapple, upsidedown cake and ice cream!
I still can’t believe that Mike is gone, but I’m so happy I was able to be with his family and friends today.
