Stealing the spotlight

Monty was an unexpected hit at the Scottish Rock club event in Dunblane today.

For this  French Pyrenean Mountain dog came in for a lot of patting, including from M, (see extra).

Originally bred as mountain guard dogs to protect sheep from wolves, today they make gentle and devoted family pets. Their exercise needs are small: “little and often”, says his owner who had travelled up from Ayrshire.

Gardeners looking for tough plants which can withstand Scottish weather know this annual event is a “must".

I left with three yellow hellebores, a rare colour, and a plant which deer do not like.
