Blue Sky Day
After what seems like weeks of grey skies and intermittent rain, how wonderful it is to walk bathed in sunshine from a near cloudless azure sky.
This is my first visit to West Shore this year, and it doesn’t disappoint. I walk north along the beach towards the Orme and away from the low and dazzling sun. It’s not long since low tide, so the wet sand supplies a mirror image of the rocky backcloth and the sky. I breathe in deeply - or as deeply as my still congested lungs allow - and the cold salt-rich air certainly seems to have healing properties.
Then it’s back home to watch the rugby. Our team’s performance has been so dire of late that I’ve not even mentioned the Six Nations in my journal , but today felt very different. Despite defeat, they played with passion and self belief, giving the stadium something to really sing and cheer about. Let’s just hope it’s not a one match wonder but the start of a renaissance.
