MMC2025 :: Day 24 :: Post
Mono Month Challenge 2025
The Mail Boat out of Picton today was nearly full, the first time it has been on our past trips out. Being nearly full all those who rushed onto the open top deck had nowhere to hide once they realised how hot and windy it can get.
Nevertheless we all had a great trip around the Sound visiting remote homesteads and isolated hotels. Unfortunately we didn't see any dolphins.
Postcard: Yet another very hot day. Whilst I took my main Blip the queue to be issued boarding passes was lined up on the quayside (see top image). The communities we visited gather waiting for their mail and supplies, often not seeing each other from one week to the next. I wonder if they hold mini council meetings once we leave. Not every stop involves communities, the lower image is not unusual, one family accessed only by the Sound, not even a pier to exchange mail bags on.
Tomorrow we move westwards again. More good weather is promised.
