Fika
Fika is a Swedish custom where you sit down with family or friends and take a coffee or tea often with something sweet on the side.
Thankyou Heanku for the challenge today of ‘something typically Swedish’
I have been cleaning Mum’s silver recently and added some cup, saucer and plate sets. The one on the right hand side was a wedding present to us from a friend, Fiona McLaurin, who has now passed away. The other is a mystery, I don't remember getting it as a gift. Shame it is in mono as the patterns are really pretty. I never use them.
We had a busy day. First up was a meeting at the electoral hub for our Independent candidate. I seem to have the job of organising the letterboxing. Bob came and we spent an hour meeting other people on the team. The coordinator for this area was a Registered Nurse like me. She ended up in management and although we had heard of each other we hadn’t met before. Then we got groceries and medication. The latter was almost as expensive as the food.
I did some research on baby clothes and blankets, there are 4 babies due mid year, one is a friend’s second and the others are a niece and 2 great nieces. I will then have 6 great great nieces/nephews. Goodness. I ordered some wool and patterns.
I also received a surprise in the mail. Doyley22 and I were both born in the same year. She sent me a book about what happened that year. I can’t see any mention of our births yet, maybe they forgot to put them in. Thanks Marg.
I also made yogurt and harvested the vermicast from the worm farm.
