A Straightforward Species...

After the challenges of identifying yesterday's specimen, today it's back to Common Barley (Hordeum vulgare), which continues to ripen through the more mixed weather we're now enjoying up here.

You can follow the development of the field in the foreground of this familiar view from the various shots I've already blipped here during the course of 2013: from harrowing (here and here); through rolling; and with the crop starting to appear.

I have also blipped a couple of late evening shots (here and here) where the field was not really visible at all!
