Soft-shell egg

Now and again we get an egg with no shell. If it happens all the time, hens aren't getting enough calcium, and you need to up their intake. The odd isolated one happens if a hen sometimes lays another egg a bit too soon, and hasn't built up enough shell-stuff again. In this case, it is our 8th egg of the day (from 7 layers), and it has an extremely thin shell layer on top of the membrane.
