Stanza Stones: Mist

My third stanza stone today, this one on the hills south of Oxenhope. I have added two temporary extras, a close up of the stone and a view of the landscape from above it (it features below the slope, on the right). The stone on which Simon Armitage’s poem is carved had a hairline crack and broke in two when raised for carving, which adds to its character.

Before I visited the stone I decided to have a look around nearby Hebden Bridge. I contacted a friend and former colleague who lives in the town to ask if she fancied a meet up over a coffee whilst I was in town. She offered to give me a tour, and joined me on my trip to find the stanza stone - which took a bit of finding, hidden in the shade as it is below a cairn.

The weather today was glorious - as far from Mist as you can get.
