St Gallen…
Across the border into Switzerland again today with a local guide, and a visit ‘ to the compact Swiss city of St Gallen with its charming traffic-free old town, striking burger houses and its most famous landmark, the UNESCO World listed Abbey District’
The baroque style cathedral was so beautiful with painted ceilings and amazing sculptures. The simplicity of the tulip floral arrangement in my extra was just perfect.
The architecture in the Abbey Library was wonderful.
We then drove higher to the town of Heiden for what would have been magnificent views of Lake Constance had it not been covered in mist. It still looked good in its misty silence.
A really good day. Most photos are on my camera today, with a theme of bay windows of the burgher houses in St Gallen. Some really impressive ones and bigger the bay window, the richer and more important the residents. But of course….
