Until the end of days
Day 5 of my Poetry Week, wherein I'm attempting to highlight a variety of recent 'poetry purchases ' ...
... and so here's a poem, as taken from Donald S. Murray's rather wonderful collection (which is all about weaving on the Isle of Lewis), and which was first published in 2011:
LOVE LETTER
You who puts in the final stitches,
makes life complete and neat for me,
grants the orb of your perfection
as full and final guarantee
of how our hours will stretch together,
the joys and cares we'll share.
'O stay with me forever,
till our days become threadbare
and the lines upon our faces
multiply like threads you sew
in cloth grown worn and tattered
as years both come upon us -- and then go ...'
