Gaia's Child

What a Treat!

As soon as I spotted this little beauty in our bog I knew that it must be some type of Water Thrush and not something that I've ever seen here in G'ville. Indeed, Merlin identifies it as a Northern Water Thrush and calls it 'Rare'! It bobbed around in the bog for almost an hour. I was so excited and took a lot of photos of it! The Northern Water Thrush has 'lovely' pink legs and it performed a continual tail (entire back end) bob as it walked along in the shallow water searching for insects and aquatic life in the algae.
The NWT is very similar to the Louisiana Water Thrush, which is also considered 'Rare' here in NCFL. I triple-checked Merlin's Photo ID and this is definitely a Northern Water Thrush. Do take a look at today's *extras...for more photos of this beautiful little bird and a map of its range.
