Les Grangettes clean up day
Which is where we spent our day working on a conservation project in the nature reserve along the edge of Lake Geneva.
Over a year lots of wood gets washed up on the shores of the nature reserve and once a year Pro Natura organise a day to clear it. It involves moving the driftwood onto netting which is then transported out of the reserve by helicopter. See extras. The wood is then left in a car park for a few days for people to take what they can use.
It was a very rewarding day with great community spirit. It was also very thought provoking as we cleared many bin bags of plastic (bottle tops, plant pots, balls and an incredible number of cue tips). We all came home determined to reassess our plastic use at home, shocked by what we saw and collected.
