After a site visit in Clipsham to a customer I've been to many times I asked him about a sign in the village for the “Yew Tree Avenue”, he turned out to be very knowledgeable about it, and gave me a very interesting talk all about its history etc.
You would never know it was there from the road. It has 30 Yew trees each side and used to be the carriage entrance to Clipsham Hall.
Back in the 1880's it had a complete gravel drive, which one man was employed all year round to keep weed free! It's been taken over by the Forestry Commission in recent years, and has lost some of its finer details, and toppings, but is still very impressive.
