Caves

Out to see that Joshua Burnside again - this time at the Caves. One of those gigs that I’d say I quite enjoyed. The fanboy behind me enjoyed it A LOT. Whooo hooo!! He kept repeating at intervals. Whooo hooo!! Whooo hooo!! Yes, yes.
Earlier I’d spent a bit of time crafting a flyer and info sheet for our next (and final) talk of the Winter. I’d previously flagged this up on the website thus: Celebrity speaker! The art of building Victorian Breakwaters, with particular reference to Granton.
Said celebrity speaker being probably the UK’s longest-standing specialist in breakwaters! OK, he was the PhD student of one of the drinking buds a few years ago. A mature fellow. And one who enjoyed a real ale, squire.
Anyway, as the talk has got closer, I got more info out the chap:
This presentation will describe the evolution of the most common breakwater types with examples of Harbours of Refuge around southern England, including notable failures at Alderney and St Catherines, and commercial/ fishing harbours around Scotland, including Skateraw and Wick.
Eh? no mention of Granton? This’ll go well.
