Water View

At last! A ride in the countryside after a  few hectic weeks. As an added bonus my riding buddy planned the route so I just pedalled, looked and chatted.

En route we came across an information board describing the crash of several Spitfires there during the war. It was a comprehensive narrative that will stay with us for ages, due to a wonderful bit of punctuation.

The farm worker who witnessed the event was planting mangolds (mangelwurzels). Unfortunately  the line of text split the misspelled vegetable in two, thus describing the farmer "in a field with his man-gels ..."

A phrase no regular cyclist will forget.
