Gorge Harbor Surprise
What a day! We stayed the night at Squirrel Cove on Cortez Island, and decided to explore a few more harbors on this island today, so headed south to Cortez Bay and then around the bottom of Cortez which put us out into the Straights of Georgia. We had to go quite a bit south of the tip of the island because there are so many rocks in the water. You really have to pay attention!!
We finally headed north where we saw eagles, huge flocks of mergansers, seals, cormorants, and beautiful mountains in every direction! We decided to head for Gorge Harbor, and experienced an interesting approach through a narrow channel, which was hampered by a 32' boat towing a 23' boat which had run out of fuel (oops)! We finally arrived in Gorge Harbor, refueled and then anchored. We had no sooner put the hook down, than out of the corner of my eye I notice a ruckus in the water...20+ dolphins swimming. Of course the next half an hour and 730 photos later were nothing but amazing.
Later we took the dinghy to shore, had a wonderful lunch, and did some grocery shopping...their fresh vegetables were very nice! Then back to the boat, with some afternoon art (drawing), and editing of 750 photos...whew:))
