Blakeney Quay

We were blessed with another sparkling blue sky day again.  It felt chilly first thing following an overnight frost but ended up being 12 degrees this afternoon.

A and I walked from Morston to Blakeney but to our dismay when we went to the duck pond to sit on our usual bench to have our flask of coffee, it wasn't there.  In fact all the benches were missing!  I'm hoping that they've only been removed temporarily in order to carry out some pre-season maintenance and to give them a bit of a spruce-up.

Anyway, all was not lost as we walked up to the bench on nearby Friar's Hill which affords a stunning view over the marshes and Blakeney Point, which can be seen in extras.  This 'letterbox' format view is not very sharp as it was taken on maximum zoom and there was a bit of a heat shimmer. There were a number of walkers using the coastal path which goes along to Cley, and the Watch House can also be seen.  While we sat there amongst the flowering gorse, we saw some buzzards floating around on the thermals as well as two beautiful lapwings displaying and calling.  Spring is definitely in the air.

Below is a link to a short and very charming film about the Watch House if of interest.
