Telling a story
A photo for Mono Monday which has a story.
(To see it in colour look at my extra)
Back in 1994 we went to Tuscany.
A two centre holiday with Magic of Italy.
At Pisa airport we hired an Alpha Romeo, ( Not the sporty type!) and off we went.
The first week we stayed in an Agriturismo apartment near Montepulciano, and the second week in a villa in the hills above Florence.
It was a fabulous holiday, and I have many tales to tell.
This is part of the Richard Ginori soup set we bought.
The fine porcelain factory was founded in 1735. I knew we couldn’t afford any pieces, and so we went to visit the Outlet shop in Sesto, Florentino.
I fell for this set. A very large tureen with lid, and six of the soup bowls.
They packed it up carefully and I remember carrying the huge box to the airport. Brought it home with no extra charge, and everything in one piece.
We don’t use it for soup anymore, but use the individual bowls for many other dishes.
I love using them, and telling the story.
I wonder if you saw Country File yesterday.
We thought one of the best ever, but we are biased living in Yorkshire and visiting Blacktoft Sands many times.
Also enjoyed seeing the butchers shop and the tile maker. Two places we hope to visit later this year.
I’m afraid I will finish on a sad note. A phone call this evening to let us know a dear friend has passed away.
I have known P. Since I was five.
We went on holiday with her and B a couple of times in the 1960s. Have been friends ever since. Unfortunately she has had dementia for the last few years and had to live in a home.
Our thoughts are with her husband B. and all the family.
