Southend Highland Games

Tonight was the Southend Highland Games. Up front and centre is the men's race. Last time Colin went one of the villagers ran without shoes so clearly they've upped the anti.

In the middle you might be able to make out the tyre throw. Some big burly men swigging out cans and throwing tyres. A symbol of masculinity clearly.

Finally in the background is a symbol of femininity, the lady's broom throwing contest. I was going to take part but instead we snuck in a bottle of wine and had an amazing time on the sidelines drinking Chardonnay in the last of our holiday sunshine.
