A scare in the neighborhood

Last night Renata looked out the window and said that it was foggy. Then we heard the sirens of fire engines and police cars. Not fog but smoke coming from the white house in the thumbnail, not far up the street. Apparently the neighbours across the street saw the smoke and alerted the owners. We watched from the porch, and other neighbours were out on the street as the firemen went into action. We didn’t see any flames. The firemen were there for several hours. This morning Renata and I walked by. A fair bit of damage to the double garage and luckily it didn’t look like the house next door was damaged. The smell of smoke was still very strong. Thank goodness that the firehall is close and that the response was so quick. Scary.
I didn’t feel right about taking a photo close to the house so took this from the porch.
