Chard
Today's the day .................... for a vitamin supplement
It really is this incredible colour - the swiss chard that has seeded itself all over the vegetable patch and is now growing as if it had a right to be there.
It's the same species as beetroot apparently - it's just that you eat its leaves as opposed to its root. And eat it, you really should, because it is packed with vitamins - A, K and C to be precise. A 175 g serving contains 214%, 716%, and 53%, respectively, of the recommended daily intake of these vitamins. It is also rich in minerals, dietary fibre and protein.
All that - and a wacky colour scheme to boot ..........................
