Ha Long Bay

The mini bus collected us nice and early from the hotel and drove us out to Ha Long Bay for our ‘cruise’ (actually only one night onboard) and we took a tender out from the dock to our ship – a very grand affair with three masts and a golden dragon head at the prow like an Asian pirate ship. We sailed out into the bay, surrounded by amazing rocky islands rising out of the mist, before dropping anchor so that the crew could start over-feeding us in earnest. After a very ample lunch of several dishes we took the tender over to visit some impressive island caves and then it was on to an energetic burst of kayaking to build up an appetite for dinner…!
