Railway History

Jess was riding today at Ainstable in the Eden Valley. I had an hour to bimble about in Armathwaite which is a lovely village on the river with added bonus of the Settle - Carlisle rail line. I had a walk along the river for a while and then popped up to the station in time for the 1543 to Carlisle.
I was in position with a composition featuring the old signalbox and sorted an ND filter for a long exposure.. Everything set waiting for the train to come in past the signal box, I was only going to get one shot of this... except..
Carlisle was in the other direction and the train came in behind me - doh!   As it turned out with a long exposure it didn't seem to matter which way the train was heading so I was quite pleased with the one shot result.
As I was packing up a chap asked me what I was up to and I explained my faux-pas, it turned out he was the custodian of the signal box and I got an impromptu tour of the box..  My lucky day.
