We don't need no education...

The new head of the Dept of Education has a mandate to dismantle it... Her qualifications are that she was a former professional wrestling promoter (and during Trump's first mandate, those same qualifications led her to being hired as the Small Business Administration head). 

I mean it makes sense: keeping the general populace dumb is a requirement that not only ensured the reelection of the current administration but will also ensure its continued support.

In the meantime, here are some of the things that will be lost with the demise of that department:
- funding for schools that enroll high levels of low income students, 
- pushing borrowers of student loans into default,
- skyrocketing class sizes, 
- more expensive higher ed (in a country where $60,000/year is "average" for universities...), 
- loss of a host of special programs (e.g. for veterans, for research in science, or technical ed for working adults)
- strip special ed services for students with disabilities, and, 
- gut student civil rights protections.

You might notice I'm not even talking about the guy's address to Congress yesterday evening (which I deliberately didn't watch) and the crap that happened there: there is only so much bad medicine this girl can take...
