Remembering a remarkable woman

Today's photo is of the interior of St Mary's Church at Charlton Kings, a village on the outskirts of Cheltenham, today for the memorial service for Dr Jean Bowyer, a former Consultant colleague at St Peter’s Hospital. Jean died suddenly at the end of January. She would have been 80 this year. She was a Paediatrician who was instrumental in developing and leading the children's and neonatal intensive care unit at St Peter’s as a centre of excellence. She was also one of the original Clinical Directors when St Peter’s became an NHS Trust in 1992 and a great support to me in that capacity. Following her retirement she was very active in promoting and developing children's health services in some of the most troubled parts of the world. A remarkable woman who will be greatly missed. A photo of Jean can be seen on the screen to the left of the photo.
