Heart Full Of Soul
No rehearsal for me tonight. There is for everybody else, but I’m skiving off* to go to a gig that was booked long before I got the part in the play.
We’ve come to sunny (and it was today!) Lytham to see Graham Gouldman at Lowther Pavilion. He tours as both 10cc and Heart Full of Songs, and it is the latter lineup that we were seeing tonight.
I do prefer the Heart Full of Songs concerts as they are semi acoustic and we get to hear not just 10cc songs but some of the great numbers he wrote for the likes of The Yardbirds, The Hollies and Herman’s Hermits as well as, of course, songs from his solo career.
Tonight was the first night of the tour, and we were treated to a great set of songs from Graham’s long career including some new ones from his latest album. A varying amount of talented musicians were on stage, starting with a solo number and eventually ending with a full band of five. The Yardbirds hit “Heart Full of Soul” was done as an acoustic duet, as pictured. The last song of the night was - as has become a bit of a tradition - Dreadlock Holiday, at the end of which there was a well deserved standing ovation from the capacity crowd. A most enjoyable night out and not too late home.
*I wasn’t skiving really. I had permission to be absent from the Director!
