Hobbs's Run

Artificial Sun

On the right side of the image we see a brilliantly illuminated city pedestrian square. It looks like the sun is behind the people because they are being lit from behind, throwing silhouettes and casting sharp shadows. I have to tell you that the actual sun is behind my right shoulder and entirely masked by a line of city towers. At this moment, It is not able to directly reach the square at all.

The sun, however, IS able to strike a tall glass tower (left side of the image) in front of me and behind the people. The peculiar angle is perfect to reflect and focus powerful light and heat onto the square, from the opposite direction. They claim that glass clad towers are overheating city spaces ... well here's proof. The effect is quite amazing.
