The bottom bracket shell, not the derailleur. Why is my BB shell exposed you ask?

The SRAM bottom bracket previously installed here froze up after one mildly rainy ride. I kid you not, the next time I got the bike out, the cranks would not turn. It was that bad. Shocking compared to the Shimano BB I still have in my 1995 StumperJumper that has been fully submerged on at least two occasions and still turns smoothly (not to count the decades of use in ALL conditions). 

And don't get me started on SRAM front derailleurs. The one pictured here is Shimano and works nearly flawlessly. Unlike the two previous SRAM models both of which were so bad I was planning on switching to 1X until I found the Shimano model.
