Aliens II

Tonight I was walking the dog alone when I noticed a light above me that seemed to be following me. I walked a couple of blocks and it was still there. I could not tell how high it was, the light seemed to maybe pulse slightly, or maybe it was it moving further away. And it was silent. One moment it seemed obviously hundreds of feet above me, then suddenly it seemed like I could touch it. 

I stared at it for several minutes, deeply unnerved. 

Finally, the light seemed to go out and I thought I could pick up just the trace of a slight dark shape that started to move away from me. Now I could just make out a shape that seemed to be moving fast away from me. 

And still, it was silent.

I followed it as best I could, but it was moving faster than I could move with the dog.

And still, it was silent. 

It now was defiantly coming down as well and though I did not see it 'land', I could tell generally where it must have gone down.

I walked up and down a couple of streets before seeing a movement just off the sidewalk in the bushes. It was about the size of a 30 pound dog and moved with a slight unnatural shimmy. 

Using my phone, I illuminated what turned out to be a... Lantern.

These things, that had me guessing for months, turned out to be Chinese lanterns. 

It is certainly a more 'industrial' sized lantern than I have seen in the past and that would explain their weird paths through the sky, they were being blown by the wind.
