Mourning Dove

Bird feeder on the balcony is well-stocked every day with black sunflower seeds. In addition to the mourning doves, we are getting chickadees, goldfinches, rosebreasted grosbeaks, blue jays, sparrows of a species that I haven't identified yet, and a bald cardinal. I feel a quite sorry for the cardinal, he looks like a little red vulture and probably has a bad infestation of mites. Checking around on the web suggests this is quite common.
