The accidental finding

We”re going on a journey

The date of my mother’s funeral has been announced. It’s rather soon: 17 th March.

CleanSteve had said he would drive up (I can’t) but now his knee is in pain so I started looking at flights. Those from Birmingham leave too early in the morning for us to get to the airport. Bristol requires a taxi to the train, a change at Cheltenham and then a bus from Bristol TM. Getting to Heathrow by coach might not give us much change from £100. And then at Glasgow there’s a bus into the centre and a three hour train journey….

We will probably go by train all the way from Stroud to Connell ferry. I had a hilariously awful version of this trip two years ago, but then I was also dragging GG and her suitcases as well my own. It seems that things often start to go wrong around Cheltenham, if the first train even gets there. What could possibly go wrong on Cheltenham Gold cup day, I ask myself?

This pic was not taken today (I cheated, it’s from our ‘jungle walk’ in India, but I worked all through the lovely day, with the door open, then I had an online course. Then I made fishermen’s stew for us. After that we watched Michael Portillo in Portugal, and then I looked at transport options for the rest of the evening.

I have a patchwork course on Friday (it started last week) and I have not done the homework, but under the circumstances….. I do not think I’ll ever be a natural, but it’s a lovely walk through the park, and a quiet atmosphere prevails.
