Redtail hawk

Headed up to Montezuma but the ponds are still frozen so not much there. There were two trumpeter swans in the one area  but other than crows that was it. Well not quite - as we were heading south there was a rough legged hawk hovering over a field within good shooting distance but for some unknown reason my autofocus refused to focus on it and kept focusing on the background just long enough for it to head off out of sight. There were a few choice words. Leaving the area  we drove past a house that had a really large bird sitting right on the front lawn . I thought it was a juvenile eagle till it took off. Biggest redtail hawk  I have ever seen. This was the best out of several photos as I completely forgot to change the settings  audit took off just as we were going to pull over.
Needless to say this is not from today , but earlier this wee. This is the first chance I have had to  edit. We also saw a lot of ducks on the lakes but tons of geese.
