A day of two halves.
As I was over today in Silverknowes seeing our travel agent, in preparation for our cruise at the end of the month, it gave me the opportunity to check out the old Gasometer at Granton.
This Victorian gasometer was originally one of three, the other two being built in the 1930's, which have since been demolished. This original one is now listed grade 2, hence it still being here. It has been turned into a park with loads of things to do, including being able to play table tennis. It’s all part of the Granton Seafront development which will be super, if it goes to plan.
I was very impressed with it, there is something quite surreal walking inside the frame of this Victorian landmark. The only downer was that already there has been some graffiti spray painted on one of the benches. I despair …
In other sad news, I found out that my work Colleague and friend, Andrea, died of cancer yesterday. She was a wonderful person, so kindhearted hearted and cheerful, but it got her in the end. So very sad and too young to be taken - myself and Martin were at her and Mark’s wedding in October in 2023. Again, it reminds me of living each day to the full and never take life for granted.
Take care all.
