Rufous hummingbird
Catching a Rufous in my backyard is an especially wonderful treat for me. This male will only be around here for a day or two as it continues its migration from Canada to the mountains of southern Arizona. They are lovely tiny birds, even smaller than our typical hummingbirds. They're super aggressive, too. This guy never hovered near the feeder, just zipped in and out for a sip so I couldn't catch him in flight. I didn't crop him any further because I hoped to let you see how tiny it is in relation to the feeder, which is just large enough to hold 8 oz (0.25 L) of nectar. Original size as an extra.
As you can tell it's finally raining a little today but not the day-long soaking we really need. It's the first measurable rain in Green Valley since September. It's noon as I write this and only 31°/-1° with snow in the mountains, and this is the desert! I haven't gotten a ton of stuff done yet today but did go out to breakfast with a few friends from Singles and am doing some laundry which never seems to end and I'm only one person! It's a good day to hunker down with my crossword puzzles and maybe watch a movie. I watched Conclave last night. It was good but I didn't enjoy it as much as I did Wicked. As a musician in a past life, I'm a sucker for good movie music.
Thanks for all of the lovely comments, stars, and hearts on yesterday's sunset. They warmed the cockles of my heart. x

A man walks into a bar and sees a bunch of people waiting to get refreshments.
He asks the bartender, "Is this really the punch line?"
