Twisted

Nearby in my suburb I came across this paper bark tree and noted its unusual trunk formation.
Maybe someone had trained it to develop this shape or it's possible a "quirk of nature". For whatever reason the thought crossed my mind that it appeared to be almost human like in appearance. I wonder if the tree needed to use the bathroom?
