Hunting the Aurora

Stood in the middle of an icy lava field until 1.30am this morning, under starry skies but no sign of the Northern Lights, again. Our guide said she'd been checking the apps and there'd been no sightings in the whole of Iceland, despite the clearest skies they'd had in weeks. A lot of people retreated to the warmth of the coach but P and I kept warm by taking silly photos.

To bed at 2am so another very short night. After only 5hrs sleep left the hotel in a heavy snow shower to spend our last day exploring Reykjavik, but more of that tomorrow. Am now at Bristol Airport waiting for the bus home, another very late night.

Thank you so much for all your kind stars and hearts for yesterday's blips of the Golden Circle. The photo of Gulfoss really doesn't show the sheer size and power of the waterfall, you could hear the thunder of the water from miles away.
