Cistanche phelypaea (parasite!!)
Also known as yellow broomrape. Blip taken on a boardwalk from Alvor which we visited because Blipper kwchas recommended it and is staying there this week. What a delightful place, good choice C.
The flower is a parasite. It has no leaves, creates no chlorophyll and survives by tapping into the roots of the neighbouring plant. It is native to Portugal and Madeira only. How interesting is that?
