Hidden Stories of Christmas Steps

Christmas Steps, in Bristol, were today turned into a performance area when performers and actors portrayed characters who passed through this area in various periods of history.  This character was one of a gang of criminals from (if I recall correctly ) the 17th century.  It was all very entertaining.  You can see more of my photographs here.

Earlier in the day I went to see the film "I Am Martin Parr", a new documentary about the famous photographer.  I am never certain whether I love or hate his photographs.  I certainly don't like the harsh flash lighting he uses in so much of his colour work, although it produces the strong, saturated colours for which he is well known.  However, I do like his observations of British life.  Although he may seem to be making fun of the British of all classes, he just records life as it is.  Many of the images shown were new to me and were enough to make me laugh out loud, as he captures the oddities of everyday life.  He is an astute observer of people and their behaviour.
