International Women's Day

To honor this day, a group of highly-skilled organizers put together a constellation of powerful performances: choral singers, Flamenco dancers, a ballerina, a blues singer, some folk singers, and standing all around the performers, the work of three visual artists. The artists of political protest urge us to take heart, to be a bulwark for each other, to resist together. 

A group called In Mulieribus usually sings medieval music, but today they sang a more contemporary song in Spanish. I missed the name of the lyricist, a woman, but the English translation on the screen behind them included these words:

If I love you, it’s because you are 
my love, my accomplice, my all;
and out in the street, arm in arm
we are much more than two.

I love you because your hands
work hard for justice…

I love you because your mouth
knows how to cry out for rebellion…
