Admiring the view over Troutbeck
Bagged a couple of Wainwrights on a glorious day in the Lake District. The route took us from Church Bridge in Troutbeck up to Sallows and Sour Howes.
Tremendous views all around with just a hint of, dare I say it, heat haze masking the distant fells. Plenty of people about on these two low fells.
Called in at the Mortal Man in Troutbeck for a late Sunday lunch. As the weather was so good we took the opportunity to drive on to Grasmere, bought some gingerbread, strolled through the daffodil garden to admire a pleasant display, stepped inside the church, looked around the Grasmere Gather and 40 Farms display and had a pint at the Inn at Grasmere.
The skies over Windermere were rather special on the way back to the apartment. First viewing tomorrow, a flat to rent in Lorton. Into the unknown… we may pick up another Wainwright or two after the viewing.
