Through the window

Whenever I see the little white dog behind the window of a neighbor’s house I have to think of the little China dog that is sitting in our window.
These were popular in the late 18hundreds and used by ladies who had a very old profession.
If the dog looked outward to the street, visitors were welcome. If it showed it’s back to the street, the lady was occupied….
