Listening
I went to an interesting talk today at Dumfries Museum- Nic Coombey from Solway Firth Partnership was speaking about how wildlife migration routes, invasive species and marine plastics all travel similar oceanic highways.
The museum is currently showing an exhibition called “The Ever- Changing, Changeless Sea”. Here you can see the staircase leading up to the Camera Obscura. The building was once a derelict windmill, and in 1835 was converted to an observatory. The architect, Walter Newell, chose to use a ship’s made, made of Baltic pine, for the centre of the staircase, so an object connected with the sea is at the very heart of the museum.
Sarah went home today :-(
Merry is here for the next two months :-)
